Here you will find answers to how you can make changes to the license
How can I easily change the address?
When can I cancel the licence?
You can cancel the licence when the TV is no longer in use. You need to send a written notification to us with information about why the licence should be cancelled. If you cancel your licence after the start of a licence period (1 January and 1 July) you will have to pay for the whole of the period.
Do I have to pay for the whole year if I live/work abroad for periods of time?
If you stay abroad for part of the year you can obtain a reduced license. You will then need to contact us in writing before you leave with notification of the departure date and return date. In order to be granted a reduction the notice must be sent to us, and departure take place before the start of the licence period (1 January or 1 July). Exemption cannot be granted with retroactive effect. A reduction also presumes that the TV is not in use in Norway during this period.
If you only stay in Norway for up to 3 months per year, you can apply for exemption from the licence. Also in this case, the written application must be sent before the start of the new licence period.
Do I have to pay for the licence when I have moved into an institution?
If the institution has joint housekeeping for the residents, and they only get paid pocket money from their social security benefits, the institution has a so-called joint licence. Then you don’t need to pay for a separate licence.
If the institution is organized so that the residents have their own apartments/bed-sitting rooms with their own housekeeping, there have to be separate licences.
How do I cancel a licence because of a death?
When the person who is registered with a licence dies, a written notification must be sent to us.
We also need information about the new owner if the TV is transferred to someone else.
Can I notify a change to another person’s licence?
Any changes or objections to a licence must be notified by the person to whom the licence is registered. An exception can be made if we get a written authorization.
The authorization must include the name, licence number and signature of the registered licence owner and the name of the person to whom authorization is granted.
